Making a Personal Web Home Page

Using OnlineScholar.uwaterloo.ca

Here are the steps.

  1. Go to https://onlinescholar.uwaterloo.ca and select "Log into the editor"

  2. Create a file called index, in web sites, index means the top page shown when one enters the site.

  3. In the Editor, make the first line be something like this to set the title:

 = Erick Engelke's Home Page
  1. Then start typing text after leaving a blank line.

  2. Use the Help button to find help topics on highlighting, links, etc. Or lookup google web help on AsciiDoc which is the language used by the system.

  3. "Manage Assets" lets you upload pictures and other files you can reference in your page. See the help for more information.

  4. Press "Publish" to save and publish your site.

  5. Press "Live" to view the live web site. It contains a URL you can give to others, or to paste into your OnlineProfileBuilder' s personal web site.

Your site will have a URL with your userid. Eg. for jmsmith: https://onlinescholar.uwaterloo.ca/published/jmsmith
