Engineering Computing developed OnlineProfileBuilder (OPB) to simplify user profiles in the campus corporate directory.

Our understanding is that a profile page is somewhere between a calling card and a yellow pages description in our corporate directory. It needs to be very lightweight - not a lot of data or screen real estate, but informative enough to identify the individual and entice the viewer to go to the personal/professional pages for more details.
That’s why the picture is small, the publications (and other topics) and courses taught are a relevant subset, etc.
The pages need to load quickly in all networking situations (cell phone, remote locations including China) and fit all dimensions of devices, including limited space on the highly prevalent cell phones.
The OPB system includes most popular topics relevant to professors, but you may wish to include other information such as:
book covers
pictures or diagrams related to research
published content
These are all detail items which can go on your private web page. OPB supports a link to your private page or lab/research page.
Faculties can host private and research web pages in a variety of ways. In Engineering we allow people to create their own web pages using OnlineScholar. Read about that in introduction it is a one minute read or watch the video in the link.
